MLPS are actually doing a good job cutting losses roughly in half...down 5.80 right now and well off the days lows.

I'll post it again:

I am going to go out on a limb and say the MLP's will close up today. YES THAT'S RIGHT-UP!

I'll be back at 4:00pm

Once again volume is lackluster in MLP's. EPD is the only one with higher than normal volume. Someone wanted out of that name at the open in a big way...

ETE is just a sinking stone. This thing must be down at least 10 days in a row now.
I just do not believe that things are this bad for natural gas transportation.

As I write this MGG is up almost 2%. I have NO idea why.

AIG has a news conference at 12:00 noon ( or is it high noon? ).

I think bloomberg radio will carry it live. NY Gov. Patterson will attend as well.

Meanwhile AIG is under $5.00 a share.

AIG -70% TODAY. I cant imagine there will be good news...

Given all that is going on, plus the upcoming 3Q earnings season, I am amazed that the market isn't down much more than it is.

Perhaps it will get there but over the next few weeks rather than a one day dive.

NY is letting AIG borrow 20 Billion from it's subsidiaries.

Maybe this buys AIG a few more days to sell some of the assets it needs to to survive.

Is there any fundamental reason to sell mlps based on today's news events ???

Going into this morning I expected a complete washout.

Lehman news was terrible ( an understatement)

Merrill news was a big positive.

I think what has kept us from completely from selling off is former SEC director Leavitt statement that SEC director COX is working on new Naked Shorting news.

They "have" to give Goldman Sachs + others some time to adjust their hedges, before the rules change.
