While I hope the majority who are predicting a stronger MLP market over the next 4 months, are correct, I wonder what is the basis for that belief?
Personally, I think the risks of lower energy prices, a weaker consumer, more financial turmoil (including continuing unwinding of hedge funds and brokers) and year-end tax loss selling suggest another down leg.

Except for tax selling, I think your other concerns are already priced in here. I think the index will be much higher after Feb than Dec.
The macro forces that are forcing devaluation of the MLP sector are still in play. The credit crisis, the slowing economy, the housing downturn all point to further unwinding.

Old man winter will be on a tear this coming season, if the Farmer's Almanac is to be believed. The 192-year-old publication, which claims an accuracy rate of 80 to 85 percent, predicts "Numb's the word" for much of the U.S. Click through to see predictions for your region.
